DENMARKET

It's a case of Danish delight for online slots players across the North Sea. The Carlsberg chugging nation will be able to grab a bacon buttie and pillage a few jackpots at their favourite online casinos from january 1, 2025.

The egaming market has been rubber stamped by the European Commission which dismissed complaints that taxing egaming operators at a lower rate than land-based rivals would breach EU State Aid rules.

Now, the Danish Gambling Authority can start opening up the licensing process ahead of the law coming into force at the start of next year.

Betfair’s chief legal and regulatory affairs office, Martin Cruddace, welcomed the decision: "Denmark's new regulation is a great example of what modern-day gambling legislation should look like across Europe.

“It is structured in a manner that will provide the Danish Government, consumers and international operators with the benefits that only a transparent, safe and competitive Online Slot Machine gambling market can bring. We are delighted that the EU Commission has today paved the way for the Danish regulation to resume its process of implementation, and we look forward to applying for a licence there as soon as possible,” he said.
