Let’s Playtech Together – Ladbrokes eyes up £2.2bn deal

Gamblers – don't ya just love 'em. Ladbrokes are currently studying the form of gaming software developers Playtech, with a view to a potential share-based merger.

The bookmaker –which operates both off and online – has instructed two investment banks to test the Playtech water. It's a deal that could potentially be worth more than two billion dollars.

Ladbrokes appetite for acquisition seems to show no bounds. Not only is the gaming company eyeing up Playtech but it has already begun negotiating with online gaming behemoths 888.

The combination of both mergers would transform Ladbrokes from high street bookmakers with a toe in the online gaming world to industry-wide software developers and major online gaming players, this can only be a positive move for us fans of the Ladbrokes Casino.

Playtech's current development and supply partnerships with the likes of William Hill and BetFred may muddy the waters for any potential love in but Ladbrokes CEO Richard Glynn is not one to shy away from a long shot business partnership. Watch this space to see if he carries it off.
